SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to transfer encrypted info between a client and a hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy users favor SSH due to the better security level. The connection is made and the commands are sent via a command line. The available options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, in particular, files can be transferred or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives may be created or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the options are significantly more - the web server and the database server can be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software could be set up and a lot more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, since full root access is needed and all the other customers on that server would be affected. While SSH is used primarily with UNIX-like Operating Systems, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, etc.
SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access is featured with all shared hosting service
which we offer. With some of them, it's offered by default, while with others it is an optional upgrade you can add with several clicks in your website hosting CP. You can obtain SSH access through the section related to it in which you can also find the information which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could select the password which you shall use and, if needed, you'll be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same place. All the commands which may be used with our shared plans are listed within a help article along with relevant examples. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you'll also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
You will be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server
account via SSH regardless of which plan you choose when you sign up. With some packages, the feature is included by default, and with others, it can be included as and additional upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll find the required login information inside the Hepsia CP, supplied with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You are able to select the password that you'll use and if you'd like, you can change it on a regular basis with a few mouse clicks for even higher security. You'll be able to see all the commands that you can use beforehand, because we've listed them all along with examples of how they are used to perform a specific task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you'll be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our VPS server
packages include SSH access by default, so you shall not have to add any upgrades or enable anything - the second the server is set up and you receive its login info, you'll be able to connect via its main IP address and the login credentials which you have chosen throughout the signup procedure. Since the VPS accounts feature full root-level access, there are no restrictions regarding the commands which you can run. Your server shall be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you'll be able to manage pretty much everything via a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. Thus, you are able to work with your files, databases and any apps that you install in a fast and risk-free way.
