An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given Internet site. Every single file that was requested in some way shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log typically shows the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info that an access log file features is in human-readable plain text format. Our custom Hepsia CP includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your shared hosting
account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domains
and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you may stop it with only a mouse click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server
account with us, it won't take more than a few clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature could be enabled via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this can be done separately for each and every domain or subdomain which you have inside your account. After you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click shall trigger the log generation and a second one shall disable it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link inside the same section will allow you to save the created content as a text file, that you could then use on your computer. Even when the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
